We like to think we’re a friendly lot here at Accounts Action (SE) and sometimes it pays to have a sense of humour in the cut and thrust fast paced world of entertainments industry accountancy. It’s also always nice to know who you’re dealing with, so with that in mind, take a look at the below staff profiles and next time you call in you can put a face to the name.
Vaughan has been a specialist accountant for more years than he’d care to remember and with such vast experience it’s fair to say that what he doesn’t know about tax returns isn’t worth knowing. It’s rumoured that he can recount the postal address of every single UK regional tax office from Aberystwyth down to Welwyn however nobody has ever dared ask him to perform this daring feat. Outside of Accounts Action (SE) Vaughan’s interests include steam locomotives, fine aged Burgundy and cricket. He’s also not averse to discussing rugby union over a pint of local real ale.
Andie has been working with Vaughan for over twenty five years and having co-founded Accounts Action in 1996, she thinks she deserves a silver award for patience. She has become an expert in the translation of some of Vaughan’s more exuberant diatribes on the vagaries of the tax system and modern life in general.
Originally specialising in all things VAT she is now taking things a little easier (if grandchildren can ever be relaxing…) and is mainly responsible for the admin of the company.
A keen supporter of live theatre and Classical music, when not crunching numbers Andie can be found sipping spritzers at folk music gigs and keeping up the fine English tradition of morris dancing.
Although she won’t admit it, Kirsty is the beating heart of Accounts Action (SE) and works tirelessly to organise everything the company does, from running client payrolls to making sure there are enough shortbread biscuits to go round. A Glasgow girl and proud, Kirsty steadfastly refuses to lose her Scottish accent, despite all the years spent south of the border. When not steadying the good ship Accounts Action Kirsty can be found running her own Boogie-Woogie dance class and enjoying traditional Spanish Tapas, though nor normally at the same time.
Lis is the first point of contact and information supremo of the office. If you’ve ever called us, chances are you spoke to Liz whose soothing telephone manner has diffused all manner of stressful situations. Facing a monumental fine from HMRC? Don’t worry, Liz is taking care of it.
Dawn is a bookkeeper extraordinaire, a true genius of the art form, someone for whom figures ALWAYS add up. She also likes to provide sanctuary for all manner of waifs and strays.
Linda is our technical wizard who looks after company accounts. She’s also somewhat of an authority in Italian cooking, gardening and pond upkeep.
A connoisseur of fine Indian artworks, Shelagh is an accounts expert integral to the smooth running of the well oiled Accounts Action machine.
Shelagh is a qualified Chartered Accountant and prepares Company Accounts and Corporation Tax Returns as well as turning her hand to Self-Assessment Accounts and Tax Returns. However as a bolshie twenty-something year old paying an exorbitant annual membership fee seemed outrageous so her membership of the ICAEW lapsed and she cannot sign Mortgage Applications etc. Shelagh also monitors Company filing deadlines so if you are late with submitting your paperwork or approving your accounts she will probably be chasing you.
After a varied working life including city analyst and theatre box office manager, Shelagh joined Accounts Action in 2011 so has survived quite a few January filing deadlines, although she would prefer to spend January in Southern India as it one of the best times to be there! When not preparing accounts or off travelling she is most likely to be gardening or visiting art galleries and museums.
Our latest recruit Marlon will help and advise on all matters VAT, and off-duty can often be found cheering on the local junior would-be sprinting champions.
Clare is a qualified Chartered Accountant who began by covering for Francisca while she has been on her maternity leave. After a career break raising her own brood she is enjoying life sorting out the vagaries and expenses of our globe-trotting clients.
What would a go-ahead modern accountancy be without a globe-trotting Kiwi? Francisca brings a wealth of international accounting experience to our idiosyncratic team. In addition to being a wizard with Company accounts, she’s our Cloud expert and can ensure they remain rosy-tinged.
The ever patient Helen fulfills a vital role at Accounts Action (SE) as the only person capable of interpreting Vaughan’s legendarily abstract dictations. If you’ve ever had a letter from Mr Pendred, spare a thought for Helen who will have had to translate that from near gobbledegook into the thoughtful missive it became.
